My father is AB pos., my mother is 0 pos., my sister and I are both 0 pos. I know an AB isn't supposed to father 0 children.
But, both my father's parents were identical twins. My dad is very fair with blue eyes and blond hair. My mother had brown hair and brown eyes. My sister and I both have her coloring. But, my hands, toes, body shape, and face shape are my fathers.
My father's sister has fraternal twin boys, I have fraternal twins boy - girl.
My question is could my father have been a CIS- AB. Is it possible my sister, my father or me are chimeras? My twins look very different. One is a strawberry blond, and her twin bother has dark hair and eyes. We have no abnomalities except I had three teeth. in one tooth a baby tooth, then a regular tooth, and another under that one. Also, on my mother's side there are identical twins which skiponly one generation. my parents were close and verymuch in love. View Answer |

My mother was typed as O - Du + and my father has A + blood. I have O - blood, but I was born (in 1977) with severe jaundice. Can a Du + incompatibility possibly cause jaundice? And does that also mean that I have regular O - blood rather than O - Du + blood like my mother? I'm not sure I actually know what the Du + part of my mother's blood type is. Does negative Du positive blood pass genetically or is it something that occurs to a person later in their life or during a pregnancy? View Answer |

My husband and I are O+, our youngest daughter has A-. She is our daughter and he is her father. The only person in the family with the A blood type is my maternal grandmother. There is no history of the A blood type in my husband's family. Could I actually be Ah, part of the bombay blood group? Since my mother also has been typed as O+ would this mean she also was really Ah. I am also a twin which the doctor hinted could be an influencing factor in all of this. View Answer |

I am 28 years old and I am 5 months preganant. I had my blood type tested as is standard procedure. My test results came back O negative. I knew that I was O positive so I went to the blood bank and got the print out saying so from past donations. My doctor seems confused by this. Can you give me some details as to what this means. When I was pregnant with my last daughter in 2001 the same thing happened but i did not know what my blood type was at the time so they gave me the shot. At the time of birth they said I was O+ and it was never needed. Can you please help me with some details on this. None of this happened with my son in 2004. I know that I'm pregnant with a girl again. Is it a girl thing? I can't find any info anywhere. Thanks View Answer |

My blood type is O Rh Negative. As I understand it the "Negative" pertains to the missing "D" antigen. My question is would it still be possible to have other antigens attached to my blood, as those found in rare bllod, or does "Negative" mean no antigens at all?

My husband (age 47) has always believed he was adopted for several reasons. One of those being that both his parents and his two brothers and two sisters all have A positive blood and he is the only one with A negative.
Is it possible for him to have ANegative when both parents are A positive?
Would really be important to both of us to have an answer to this.
Thank you

My Father has type AB blood. His mother was type O, and his father B. Ideally, this is not supposed to be possible. I've been reading up on the Bombay phenotype which seems the most plausible answer, except that we are Caucasian. Our genealogy has been well documented with our no one in our family being anything except Northern European, and no one coming from Europe since the last potato famine. I know the odds of a European having it are 1 in a million.
So, I was wondering if there is any other explanation for the discrepancy besides Bombay. And, yes, we know that is his mother for sure. A few years ago, after his parents died, he ran a DNA test against his sister who has O blood, and it came up a complete match, both his parents are indeed his parents. He hasn't looked into it any further though, so your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! View Answer |

My question is I have two grandkids and one blood type is A+ and the other is O- their mom blood type is A+. Now I did some research and for out for the A+ child her father can only have the blood type of A,AB,B or O. And the other child is O- the father can only have the blood type of A,B or O. We haven't done a dna test yet, but wouldn't this be a clue that the 2 kids would have different fathers since the cenerio of the the fathers blood type are different. Also I think they have different fathers since one child has a lazy eye that runs in her dads family and it is a very strong trait. All 3 of his siblings have this lazy eye even one of his parents and grandparent. I was told that since it seems that it was a strong trait that if one child had it all of the kids would have this condiction. Since the younger child doesn't have this condiction I didn't think this could be his child. Thanks for all your help. View Answer |

My father's blood type is AB; my mother's is O positive; and mine is O positive. From what I've learned in school this isn't possible. Does this mean that my dad isn't my biological father? I really want to know the truth because I've been wondering about it for years since high school biology and I'm in med school now. Is there any scenario where this would be possible? View Answer |
